PARRANDA EL CLAVO
Parranda El Clavo is a village band from Venezuela, specifically from the village of El Clavo in Barlovento, the nest of Afro-Latino culture in Venezuela. Their recent rural recordings with lifelong friend Betsayda Machado brought new attention to Venezuelan Afro-Soul genre: 'Tambor'. A spirit-shaking percussion and voice fiesta, said to make dancers float.
After their New York City debut in January 2017, New York Times' Jon Pareles called Betsayda and Parranda: "The kind of group that world-music fans have always been thrilled to discover: Vital, accomplished, local, unplugged, deeply rooted"
Alongside Betsayda, Parranda El Clavo is celebrating their 30 year anniversary with a series of concerts and residencies that will most likely come near you.
