GUA - THE FILM
CONTEXT
The world's most dangerous Country is facing its worst crisis. There, the heavenly voice of a woman leads to an accidental encounter between a group of producers and a peculiar town of 1500 inhabitants with a deep history of slavery.
The title of this full length documentary: GUÁ (Pronounced: Waa) is inspired by a popular expression of surprise, often used in rural areas in the north of South America in moments of revelation and discovery.
STORY
After thirty years of isolated success inside a rural town in Venezuela, a prodigious singer and her village's band get ready to share their music with the rest of the world… For the first time.
They have no album, or visas, or running water… Their instruments are self made. Two years ago, a theatre director, convinced he was listening to the most powerful music in the world shared a motivational video online.
Today they travel across 20 States in Trump’s America, on their way to Africa spreading the sounds of their land. A resilient journey about the meaning (and timing) of art and life.
